It will be difficult to say there is nothing to do in Kingwood this Fourth of July. Gather your family and friends and decide which events you will be attending. Bring your cameras because a fun photo contest from the days events is a brewing. More details below.

The Day Begins...

The Kingwood Civic Club's Fishing Rodeo:
The fishing rodeo is from 6-8am and is held at the Foster's Mill ponds at the corner of Kingwood Drive & Forest Garden. All kids under 14 are welcome to come out to cast thier poles and awards will be given out at 8:00am for biggest fish, most fish and smallest fish. Special guest judges include Council Member Peter Brown and Houston Mayor Community Liaison Gwendolyn Condoleo. No registration is required.

The Kingwood Civic Club's Bike Decorating Contest:
The bike-judging contest will begin at 8am at Creekwood Middle School, located at the corner of West Lake Houston Parkway and Sandy Forks. Decorate your bike to impress the judges and you may just win a trophy. Participants also get to show off their bikes in the parade!  No registration is required.

The Kingwood Civic Club's 4th of July Parade:
Lineup for the parade begins at the corner of Feather Lakes and West Lake Houston Parkway at 8am. Float judging will begin at 9am and the parade will kick off at 10am from Creekwood Middle School on Sandy Forks. The parade will end when all participants reach Kingwood High School.

The Kingwood Civic Club has selected retired Harris County Precinct 4 Assistant Chief Larry Shiflet as this year's Grand Marshal.

Last year's Grand Marshal, Houston City Council Member Mike Sullivan, will be returning to the parade riding along with the Houston Police Department's Mounted Patrol Division.  The Mounted Patrol Division will be carrying flags of the United States of America.

Three term Houston Mayor Bill White will also be walking the parade route so he can shake hands and thank Kingwood residents for their support.

As it is also an election year, attendees will be introduced to candidates running for office such as the Wayne Garrison Campaign running for city council.  Their float will have Kingwood Radio on board rallying the crowd with great music and parade commentary.

Council Member Peter Brown has also been confirmed to be in the parade.

Many local businesses and organizations will be adding to the parade's excitement with their festive floats and a few tricks up their sleeves.
