The Kingwood Rotary Club recently presented the Blue Star Moms with a donation of $1,500.

The Blue Star Moms, which is a non-profit organization, meet together to share their pride, devotion and their concerns for their sons and daughters currently serving in all branches of the Armed Forces of the United States, and their sons and daughters who are now veterans.

The $1,500 contribution from the Kingwood Rotary Club will be used to supply QuikClot which is a lifesaving gauze that stops traumatic wound bleeding in seconds, care packages, liners for helmets, support to the USO, and Fisher House at the Debakey VA Medical Center in Houston. They also support the Gold Star Moms which have lost their son or daughter while serving in the military.  Their organization also provides support for active duty service personnel, promotes patriotism, assists Veterans groups, veterans in hospitals, and they also assist in homeland volunteer efforts to help our country remain strong.

The organization is open to mothers and fathers who have or have had children serving in the United States Armed Forces.  They have an associate membership for any family member or friend of a military person also, so everyone is welcome.  For more information, please visit their website at www.bsmhoustonarea.org.

Kingwood Rotarians participate in numerous programs locally and throughout the world including Rotary Youth Exchange, Humble ISD Education Foundation, PolioPlus to help eradicate polio (yes, polio still exists), Ambassadorial Scholarships, Interact Clubs at local Humble ISD high schools, disaster relief efforts, FamilyTime Foundation, literacy projects and Salvation Army bell-ringing, just to name a few.  Visitors are always welcomed at their weekly meetings every Thursday evening at the Kingwood Country Club from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.  For more information, please contact club president, Robert Westover, at (281) 358-0684 or visit their website at www.kwrotary.org.
