The City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department, in partnership with METRO and Council Member Michael Sullivan, is proud to announce expanded opportunities for recycling in Kingwood. In the past, the Solid Waste Management Department provided collections every other weekend at the Kingwood Park and Ride. Beginning September 6, 2008, the Kingwood drop-off site for recycling will be available every weekend.“The residents of Kingwood have asked us for more opportunities to recycle. We are pleased to provide these additional drop-off times to support this avid recycling community,” said Harry Hayes, Solid Waste Management Department Director.
Council Member Sullivan added, “We have a treasure trove of residents who will use this new and expanded service. Our entire office is committed to increasing the stream of recyclables out of the Kingwood Park and Ride facility.”
“METRO is happy to participate in programs that support our environment” said Ana Rausch, METRO’s Vice President of Real Estate. “We’re pleased to join the City of Houston in expanding recycling services to everyone in the Kingwood area on the weekends.”
The Kingwood Park and Ride is located at 3210 W. Lake Houston Parkway. Materials accepted at this weekend drop-off site are: newspaper, magazine, office and school paper; plastics #1-5, and #7 in the form of bottles, jars, jugs, and tubs, and clear lids; glass bottles and jars; and tin and aluminum cans.
