Dr. Martin Basaldua Announces as Candidate for Texas House District 127
Former Chief of Staff and Co-Founder of Kingwood Medical Center Dr. Martin Basaldua, today announced his candidacy for Texas State Representative in House District 127, which covers parts of Kingwood, Atascocita, Huffman, Crosby and Baytown.
Doctor Basaldua has been practicing family medicine in Kingwood for more than 25 years and has been rated one of “America’s Best Doctors” two years running. “I know that a government takeover of healthcare would be a disaster, and as a physician serving you as your representative, I will work hard to make sure you keep control of your life – not the government,” said Basaldua.
“In response to the debate in Congress this year about changes to our healthcare system, Texas will be facing decisions during the next legislative session affecting all of us, decisions for which we will need a doctor in the House,” said Basaldua.
Basaldua favors lowering taxes, creating jobs, ending illegal immigration, and stopping Obamacare in its tracks. And as a small businessperson who deals with the very same challenges faced by employers throughout our community, Basaldua’s priority is to encourage job growth by cutting taxes and reducing regulation on employers.
In addition to his expertise in healthcare and small business, Basaldua takes a personal interest in higher education for Texans. He was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Joint Interim Committee for Higher Education, and by former Governor George W. Bush as Vice Chair of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
“I believe in the opportunity to live the American Dream,” said Basaldua, “It will be my honor to represent our communities with the philosophy our Founding Fathers dreamed of and created for us.”
