East End Park Student Photo Contest Offers $1000 in Cash Prizes
Between now and January 4th, any full-time student from a public, private, or home school may enter the East End Park Photo Contest. All photos entered must have been taken within the park.
The theme of the contest is, "Encourage Preservation Through Beauty." Entries will be judged on their ability to capture the beauty of this exceptional park.
Located at the east end of Kingwood Drive, East End Park is one of the last remaining and best preserved examples of the Big Thicket biosystem in Harris County. This 158.5 acre nature preserve includes five miles of trails, boardwalks and observation decks with two miles of frontage on Lake Houston. The park also includes approximately 50 acres of tall-grass meadows. The Lake Houston Nature Club has documented more than 132 species of birds here.
A $250 first prize will be awarded, along with a $100 second prize, and three $50 honorable mentions in each of of two age categories.
