KM4B Heads to Chicago
Kingwood High School's Mighty Mustang Military Marching Band, aka KM4B has been selected to participate in Chicago's St. Patrick's Day Parade Saturday, March 14th, under the direction of Destry Balch, Jason Reichenberger and Amber Barnes.
The festivities begin at 10:45 with the dyeing of the Chicago River green, a tradition that started in 1962. The actual parade begins at noon cst and will be broadcast on WGN TV. (Channel 9 on SuddenLink & Direct TV, Channel 54 on Comcast, Channel 239 on Dish.) This is Chicago's largest parade and KM4B is honored to join the many participants, including other marching bands, bagpipers, floats and dignitaries as they make their way along Columbus Drive.Participation in the parade is by invitation only. Applications were filed in February of last year. Two hundred thirty four individuals, including students, band directors and chaperones will be attending the parade. The band started fundraising efforts that began this past summer and included Cheesecake sales, a Live & Silent Auction and parent volunteers working at the Toyota Center. In addition to student fees, members of the community and local businesses gave donations to help supplement the trip.
