School Bus Advertising Program To Pursue Additional Revenue For School District
Steep Creek Media, a Houston advertising company, and Humble ISD have entered a partnership to generate revenue for the District by selling advertising space on its school buses and other venues.
Humble ISD is the first public school in metro Houston and the second state-wide to pursue additional revenues through school bus advertising.
Funding is a major issue facing school districts throughout Houston and Texas, with dozens facing similardeficits and reductions. The District, facing a budget deficit of more than $17 million that could result in areduction of staff and both academic and extracurricular activities, has contracted with Steep Creek Media to sell advertising with an annual potential revenue to the District of more than $1 million.
The District’s 260+ buses travel hundreds of miles each week throughout the community and provide a unique method for community businesses to step up and be heroes of Humble ISD. Advertising bannerspace will be displayed on the District’s buses.
Speaking on behalf of the initiative were Humble ISD Superintendent Dr. Guy Sconzo; Lynn Fields, SteepCreek Media; and four initial advertisers on District buses: Lori Aungst, Kids Playce Day Care; RockyMcCullough, Goodson Honda; Dan Huberty, Ampco System Parking; and Tim Martin and Colleen Uriarte, Choice Homes.
“We are thrilled with the initiative and possibilities to generate revenue in this financially stressful time,” said Sconzo. “Humble is the first public school in the metro Houston area to take advantage of this innovative and creative initiative.”
“This program offers Goodson Honda a great way to support public education,” said Rocky McCullough of Goodson Honda. “We want to support Humble ISD in every way possible.”
The program will display a company’s message on the side of one of the buses in full color on a vinyl application. The business will be shown to the whole community as a sponsor of Humble ISD.
On the driver’s side, there are two ad locations. There is a 7’ X 1’6” location above the windows and a 7’6” X 2’6” ad located underneath the windows. There is one ad location on the passenger side of the bus. It is 7’ X 1’6” and located in the same place as on the driver’s side.
